My wife Brooke and I thought we’d try this newish neighbourhood place near Mount Pleasant and Eglinton. We were attracted by the prix fixe menu ($22.95 for an appetizer, and entree, and a dessert) and the nice black and gold painted facade.

The service was friendly enough, but overall I thought the food just average. We both had the mixed greens salad (normally $6.95) and thought it just ok. It had a pretty plain vinaigrette dressing. I ordered the daily pasta special, which was spaghetti with italian sausage, onions, and red pepper in a “spicy” tomato sauce. The chunks of Italian sausage were enormous and not very spicy, nor was the sauce. This item was priced at $14.95 a la carte. Brooke had the chicken, usually a dependable standby, and it was, but without anything to distinguish it.

Dessert choices were good (around $7-8 a la carte). There was creme brulée, Belgian chocolate torte, white chocolate mousse, a lemon cake of some sort, and a few more. Brooke had the white chocolate mousse, which she found “alright” and I had the Belgian chocolate torte, which I found dry as dust.

Overall, it’s a nice place with good atmosphere, but the food was just not up to par.
